I am
a Geriatric Care Manager which means that I am a professisonal consultant that specializes in finding,
coordinating, & maintaining services for elderly clients. My name is Beth Sweeney and I have lived in the Wausau area for
approximately 13 years. I live in Kronenwetter with my two teenagers, two cats, and husband. We
moved to Wausau for my husband's work and quickly made the decision that this is
wherewe wanted to raise our
children.
Before moving to Wisconsin, I received my M.A. in Counseling and
Personnel Services from the University of Maryland, College Park. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa and
with High Honors. At that time, I also became a nationally certified Rehabilitation
Counselor.
Since moving
to the area, I worked for several years for North Central Health Care and the Department of Social
Services in a variety of professional roles. I have also worked part-time as a hands-on in-home
aide. My positions have always involved serving the best interests of the clients and helping them
to maintain their status in the community.
My career path has prepared me well to serve as an advocate. I believe
first and foremost in preserving the dignity and rights of every client; I have an excellent
professional reputation. I love to travel so I enjoy serving clients throughout the state of
Wisconsin. I am familiar with community resources, and am creative at identifying "out of the
box" solutions. I have worked with many county agencies and program and I value the importance
of the family, the client, and others in ensuring that the client is being well served by Advocacy
for Seniors and anyone else that is involved in the client's care.
